THIS MONTH'S FEATURED EDUCATOR
“When They Speak, You hear It In Your Own Language”
Mr. Jordan BlumenthaL
ZHL Consulting is proud to celebrate Mr. Jordan Blumenthal as the September 2021, "Featured Educator".
ZHL Consulting has created this program to recognize and celebrate the dedicated educators that go above and beyond to educate the future leaders of the world. Once a month we will choose an educator who demonstrates the qualities needed to develop the minds of today’s students.
These monthly Featured Educators are selected with Chengdu as the locus, and radiating out to include Mainland China and the wider Asia Pacific Region. They are recognized on our corporate website, and celebrated on all ZHL Consulting media networks.
Jordan Blumenthal is currently running a Public Speaking and Debate training company, SpeechCraft说匠, based in Chengdu with offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Taipei. His goal is to give students the tools to express themselves confidently and persuasively. In his experience, students are hungry for a platform to speak their truth.
After graduating from Northwestern University, Jordan spent a year coaching the Harvard debate team before his interest in a global adventure led him to take a job building speech and debate programs in China. Like many expats in China, his initial plan to stay for 1 or 2 years has turned into almost a decade of living in China.
He is a seasoned coach, with over a decade of experience teaching debate and public speaking. He has taught courses on public speaking and debate in 4 different countries, including stints for the national championship Harvard and Northwestern debate teams.
Over the past 9 years living and working in China, Jordan has noticed many of the challenges that young learners are facing inside and outside of the classroom. He believes that listening to his students and providing them an opportunity to express themselves can best set them up for dealing with future challenges.
Mental health is an incredibly important part of a child’s education. Schools need to be prepared to provide support to students and their families. Jordan believes this needs to be an active process of learning and development.
He believes that academic success is not just about study skills and knowledge. The pandemic has taught us that we collectively need to have more conversations about mental well-being and taking care of our body and mind.
